The structure of the Simple Past for irregular
verbs is really the same. The only difference is that
with regular verbs the past form is always
"-ed" but with irregular verbs you have to
learn the past form:

He

We use the Simple Past to talk about an event in the
past. The event can be short or long.
Here is a "short" event:
- The car exploded at 9.30am.
Here is a "long" event:
- I lived in Bangkok for 2
years.

We use the Simple Past when:
- the event is in the past

finished
- we say the time and place
of the event

was young.
- He didn't like the film.
